When our beautiful old Snowshoe cat Molly decided she would have kittens BEFORE we had her fixed, we waited anxiously until all five babies were born. They were a handful and I was so sad when we decided to give them away, that my mom finally decided that it was ok for me to keep one. That's how I came to have Charlie.
I love my two cats, but they are like the princesses of our palace (Yes, Charlie is a girl.) Molly and her kitten Charlie are so totally spoiled and they know it. With white markings on their face and chest, these sturdy creatures are just so beautiful that people must gape at them. Molly is a pure Snowshoe, a cross between a Siamese and bi-colored American Shorthair and Charlie is mixed (we don't know who the father is) but one of the reasons I chose to keep her is because she looked the most similar to her mother.
I thought kittens couldn't get any more beautiful then what I just described, that is, until I came across an a post from the beginning of December at The Cat Fact Files. Blue cats! Could it be? Is it true? Ok, so they're not really blue. As the blogger points out, the blue refers to "the lovely grey fur that can be found in many pedigree breeds." But they're still quite beautiful. Take a peek at the post and pay special attention to the Chartreaux. This rare species almost became extinct in the 1940s and is one of the two the earliest cats associated with man outside of the ancient Egyptians. Amazing! Maybe I can get me one of those!
