To Whom It May Concern:
Animal Planet has a show called "That's My Baby'. The episode which aired yesterday, February 4th, 2002, was about two cats, Bubbles and Blackie.
Bubbles is a brown tabby female DSH and Blackie, of course, a black male DSH. (Domestic Short Haired Cat, just a "regular" cat if you will, not a
pure bred or any thing of that nature; I love dsh's
myself, I am not biased against them, LOL.) The owners of Blackie and Bubbles decided it was a good idea to let Bubbles and Blackie have kittens, and Anima Planet further thought it was a good thing to record this "miracle of birth" and air it, thusly encouraging millions of their viewers to do the exact same thing. By airing this show, they are condoning such actions, which most "animal people" by now are aware of the fact that we already are killing millions of cats in humane societies and shelters, aside from the fact that the US is covered in feral cat colonies behind grocery stores, in parking lots, etc.
I called yesterday during the time the show was aired, around 1pm Eastern time and spoke with an individual named Thomas. He apologized repeatedly, and took note of my (lengthy) comments.
**The number to call Animal Planet and complain is 1 859 342 8439.
They don't seem to have a working 800 number. Also you can email them at
letters@discovery.com, or,
viewer_relations@discovery.com.**
Thank you all for your attention to this matter; I hope that we
can "enlighten" AP to the error of their ways.
Sincerely,
Brooke R. Moore
