cat peeing on floor

I have a cat, he's very good about peeing in his box usually. Recently I have gotten a fish tank which is currently sitting on the floor till I get my stand. My fish net sits on the floor next to the tank. My cat started peeing on my fish net and by the tank....the weird thing is he also pees in his litter box during the day. But at night while I sleep he pees in my room ( i do leave my door open for him) So I know peeing outside the box can be a sign of a UTI but since it seems he's aiming for just the aquarium and it's accessories could it be something else?

Ummm... It could be a UTI like you said so I would go and get that ruled out first.

The only other things I can think of are;he doesn't like the fish or the sound of running water makes him have to go and he is just to in to watching the fish he just pees right there.

Give the area a good cleaning and try to remove any pee smell.

Do not use regular cleaner to clean the spot. The ammonia in household cleaners can react with the ammonia in urine and make the smell stronger only encouraging your cat to pee there. Look for a cleaner meant to eliminate pet odors.
