How long do cats stay in heat, with the loud meowing and crouching to the ground?? Does this occur every month?? Thanks

They can stay in heat for up to 2 weeks sometimes, and will keep going in heat every month or so until she is either bred or spayed. If you have no intentions on breeding her, I would recommend spaying her as soon as possible, it's better for her and it will help you from going insane from it. Vets will usually charge extra to spay a cat who is over one year old or in heat, but it is money well spent.

I agree with Lor. You should get her spayed. The amount you'll spend is so well worth it not to have to deal with a cat that is yowling in heat.

They are so much less noisy when they are spayed plus it helps prevent the accidental escape and pregnancy thing.

Voting for spaying. Several reasons why. Too many kittens in the world as it is. If she is an inside cat and she gets outside, especially now, she will become pregnant. If you allow her to many heats without breeding, she may develop pyometra- swift and sometimes deadly. plus spaying her will increase her life cycle, take her out of the running for certain types of cancers and mellow her temperment.
