Cats and Menthol

I'm just curious if anyone elses cats love the smell of menthol products as much as my cats do? And does anyone know why they love it so much?

China loves it a lot more than Hyrum though. They like toothpaste, mouthwash, Halls, Rub A535 and go absolutely CRAZY for Vicks VapoRub. They react way more to this than catnip. They react the same way to green olives and celery, but still not as crazy as the vaporub. I'm sick right now and put some Vicks on my chest and they will not leave me alone, lol. China wants to lick it all off of me and Hyrum wants to rub his body all over me, it's so cute.

Oh and don't worry I don't let them lick it very much at all! I try to stop them right away, but they can be very forceful at times, lol. It's pretty funny how determined they are to have it and smell it.

I am getting over a cold now and was just using vicks - my kitties didn't bother me. I did have a cat that loved my friends hair. I don't know why but she would slobber and claw my poor friend. Luckily she is a HUGE cat lover and didn't really mind.

My Tyler loves anise pizzelles. He went after me for some so of course I shared.

Kitties certainly can be silly.

I've heard of star anise, but what are anise pizzelles? Hyrum loves my hair too, he always thinks it needs grooming, lol. He only licks it like crazy if I'm holding him on my shoulder.

Kramer doesn't like the smell of menthol and will leave me alone if he smells it anywhere on me. there isn't any reall smell he goes nuts over. He will however come up and steal bites of my food if I don't pay attention, he loves pop tarts, turkey, rice krispie treats, ice cream of any flavor just to name a few

Nikko, that is too funny. One of my cats have a thing for under-arm deodorant! OMG!, it is too funny. You can't just take a shower and go to bed and try to fall asleep without her attacking you. I'm o.k. with being understanding, but when she attacked my husband one night, and he is ticklish, I was laughing so hard, I couldn't even help him! LMAO.

Catnip is related to mint I think - that maybe why your kitties like mint.

And pizzelles are an Italian cookie -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizzelle

They can come in other flavors such as vanilla or chocolate - but anise is my favorite and Tyler's. My mother in law makes awesome pizzelles. Thankfully the dogs are laying on my feet keeping me from going and getting the tin of pizzelles right now.

I never thought about the cat liking mint stuff, maybe that explains why he insists on being in the bathroom when we brush our teeth and stuff? i'll have to test that. I know the dogs dont like vicks, Last time i was sick Tanner was being a pest so i let him smell it and he made the funniest face lol poor puppy. he doesnt like when i paint my nails either..

Going tobogganing sounds like so much fun! i havent been in years! Can i come visit? Btw- i love your new Siggy Pic, They look so different!

That's so funny that you brought it up! I've been fighting a wicked cold and I pulled out the good old Vick's and Stanley kept trying to steal it from me! He actually knocked the little round container of it off my endtable and rolled around on the floor with it. Too cute!

Catnip is part of the mint family, and Stanley LOVES catnip, so I guess it's no surprise!

My cats actually don't really care too much for catnip. I've tried the dried stuff and in a spray form and nothing. They like it for a bit, but not too crazily, not like minty stuff and olives and celery. The go absolutely nuts for that stuff.

I'm not sure, I've always put it in something. Sometimes I just sewed little soft toys for them and put the catnip inside.
