Awww Steph! I truly think it is fate, hon. I think you should name her Fate, too! Everyone said it well, you cannot replace Sneakers but you can open your heart for another kitty to love. I really think Sneakers sent her to you and Mike.

Well I have been going through a long list of names. I wanted a name that had an "ie" at the end, because we used to call Sneakers "Pookie" and I wanted her to have part of his name. I originally thought that Allie would be cute, but Allie and Ollie sound too similar and I don't want them to be confused. So, after going through a million more web sites, we decided on the name Cammie. She is so cute and sweet, and I wanted her to have a cute name. And Cammie has the "ie" at the end like Pookie. I am still in quite a daze after all this. I was able to eat for the first time in two days, and I took a nap with Cammie laying on me. That girl can purr for hours! I just can't believe that Sneakers is gone and I have a new kitty. I'm happy and heartbroken at the same time, and of course I wish I could have my Sneakers back. I miss him soooo much.

A new pet will never replace the other but they sure can distract you and help fill an empty void... your heart is PLENTY big enough to love another one w/o hindering your love for the previous ones
I STILL cry over Max and Samson... always will. But Polo sure has lowered my crying time to something healthy while mixing in a ton of smiles |

Deb, I totally agree with that statement. I will never forget Sneakers, and even though I have Cammie now, my heart still grieves for him and I cry every time I see his ball or his picture, or think about last night. But having a new kitten distracts me enough to get out of bed and eat something, and give her lots of love. Before when I just had the two cats, there was a big emptiness in my apartment. I am so used to having three kitties. Cammie helps fill the void. She is so thin and she needs to be fattened up, so I am taking very good care of her and feeding her a lot of good food. She was just spayed last week so she still has a shaved tummy and a little scab. I will tell you guys more about her tomorrow and post some pics. I am putting together a memorial for my Sneakers as well.

I think it is great that you gave Cammie a home. I know she will have lots of love and care. Sneakers can't be replaced in your heart, but you have lots of love to share with another kitty.
Can't wait to see the pictures!

Only you would know if it was too soon or not to get another cat. But, I think Sneakers would want you to give another kitty the same love and support he received. Congratulations on your new little girl! Can't wait to see pics!

Steph, I believe Cammie's presence will have a positive influence on your life. As others have said, Cammie was not brought into your life to replace Sneakers, rather another pet to love and care for the way you cared and loved Sneakers. I can't wait to see pictures of your new girl.

Sorry guys, I'll take pics today. I promise. I was trying to get Sneaker's memorial up first but I'm having problems with my stupid scanner, and I wanted to post baby pics of him.
Cammie is doing good. I am SUPER paranoid about something going wrong. Thats the only bad thing about getting her so soon after losing Sneakers. I got a free month of Pet Health insurance that covers almost everything that can go wrong with an adopted pet, up to $500. But that doesn't take care of the stress and heartache that goes with it, so please everyone send "Cammie is healthy and will stay that way" vibes. She threw up last night which really freaked me out, but she seems fine now so I'm thinking her tummy was upset from all the stress. I would have thrown up too if I was at Petsmart with all those barking dogs and people everywhere, then brought home to a strangers house with two BIG male kitties. Plus she ate a ton of canned food that she's not used to. I bought her the dry food that she's been on (actually, they gave me a coupon for a free bag) but they told me she prefers canned food and she definitely does. I'm going to Petsmart today and see if I can get the canned kitten food in the same brand as the dry food. I had given her Innova canned, which is approved for all life stages, but she's not used to it so it probably upset her tummy. Other than that, she's doing good. She's quite reserved, very friendly, purrs for hours, and sleeps on the bed with us. She is very skinny and that really bothers me. I can't wait until she fattens up. She was spayed very recently and has a red line where the incision was. It has me paranoid but I'm sure its fine. She hasn't been licking at it or anything. I just need to try to calm down. She is definitely helping more than hurting though, and it is great to have three cats again. Two just didn't seem right, even if it was only for a day.

Awww hon, everything is gonna be ok. I know, I would be worried, too. Your right, her tummy was probably upset from the food/stress. I'm sure everything will be ok once she gets settled and you pick up her regular canned food at Petsmart. She just needs a gradual change to the Innova and she'll get used to it. It does sound like she loves her canned food, wow!
Give her a little time and I'm sure she'll gain weight, too! They say kitties gain a few pounds after they get spayed/neutered so since she was just spayed, and she is in a new loving home, I'm sure she will gain a few lbs. in no time, hon!!! Ginger was SO tiny when she came home and she had already been spayed and was over 1 years old. She gained over a pound in the first week! She is a very petite cat, too.

Thanks Jackie. She is doing good today and starting to play and be fiesty like a kitten should. Ollie is playing with her. He's such a good boy and I am so proud of him. Tiger is tolerating her, but he still hisses when she gets too close. They all seem to be working it out though.
