Fleas!!!!

How do you guys treat fleas on your cat(s)? Right now I am using Frontline but I think I will try Frontline Plus and see if that works better. I might also try Revolution.....

My vet used a shot. Now I don't bother. The dogs get treated. The cats aren't allowed out. I worry sometimes but so far I have been lucky. Oh and Jay also had put something on the grass outside to prevent fleas.
Whatever you use I wouldn't try the stuff they sell in any store. Years ago we had fleas (still lived with my mom near a wooded area). I tried those store bought drops. I wasted a lot of money that way and it didn't do anything. I finally called the vet and had it cleared up in a week!
Good luck!

Yeah, definatly don't use store bought stuff - make sure to get it from the vet! When I had my cat, she got fleas and I spent a ton of money on flea stuff for her, as well as flea bombs and powder for the house. After paying all that money, bombing the house, putting stuff on the cat, and treating all the rugs - Yup, we still had fleas. So I went to the vet and got something to put on the cat, worked wonders!

I never have used any store bought flea topic for my cat I also think its a waste of money and my time. Frontline though is a vet bought product and I don't know why its not working. I use the same thing for my dog, the one that is for dogs though, and it works like a charm for him. I can keep it on him for three months and I see no fleas. On the other hand Kiddles has fleas because she escapes the house that is why I still use Frontline on her weather she is going out or stays in the house.

Kathydip-what was the shot your vet gave your cat? Also what is that thing Jay put outside to prevent fleas? My Dad and I put something on the grass too but I don't know how far she goes when she is out of the house. Last time I saw her she was crossing the street about a block from my house . Now that got me really !

I use Zodiac because i tried both advantage and frontline on shadow and neither worked. I was told to try Zodiac and it works wonders for him. I was told that it depends on the animals body chemistry and that you just need to find one that works for your animal.

Mine gets Frontline Plus and Capstar and dips....and fleas.

For some reason, I just can't get him flea free. This last batch popped up when he was staying in just one room - sealed off, no outside, no fabric at all for them to live in... but there they are, TONS of them. Poor cat.

I will be trying this product Buy Diatomaceous Earth to kill fleas, ticks, bed bugs and parasites naturally and a product from Fleabuster and see how those two work. I think I will buy a good flea collar too. Thanks everybody.

I am so sorry. I just checked this thread again.
I am really not sure what the shot was. It has been some time since they were done. I do need to call the vet about something so I will ask.
