Hidden kitty

I have a 10 year old mixed breed cat that took up at my house about 9.5 years ago. She is very friendly and affectionate but only when all the other animals are elsewhere. During the day I barely see her at all. At night she is in my lap. Is this normal? Are the dogs just too noisy for her? She occasionally plays with the puppy but usually just ignores them. During the day she also avoids me.

It sounds pretty normal to me - she's staked out her time and place when she can have you to herself. The others may make her nervous.
