Illusion! Female...NOT MALE!
Well my mom's new kitten,Illusion is a female and not a male. She is really fluffy and thats why it was hard to tell, but after examaning her today...she is a she and not a he.Mom wanted a male, because it is cheaper to get males fixed. But she loves Illusion,so I don't see any problems arising. She is a whiny little thing tho,is this normal for female cats?

I always preferred females...because the males we had growing up used to run away & NOT come back so I used to hate getting cats at all.My family used to be deadset against keeping them indoors.
(I prefer indoor only though) Oh,but those cats werent neutered either.(I'm all for spaying& neutering tho,so I spay & neuter MY pets)
Anywho. Could she still be meowing for her mommy? When we had a few cats before... the mom& kitten we had,the female kitten wasnt whiney (she was always around her mommy tho),BUT when we adopted a kitten (my mom's cat) she was whiney for a couple weeks. Then mom started babying her & she quieted down.

Oh...eep
Mom's was like that for the first month after we got her.THEN she "quieted down" ...although I always considered her a little terror Even though she's adult now !

LOL The kittens who are sooks tend to cry more, I prefer girls cats sometimes but not when you have to pay for the spaying!! Asia don't cry much as she spends most time playing with Kilala.

Some cats are simply more "talkative" than others. It may help to see what she's whining about. Does she do it solely for your attention or does she want something? I have one cat that simply likes to talk to me, but the other one does it only when she wants something--like to be fed or for me to turn the bathroom faucet on so she can drink out of it.
Cats are like people in that each cat has its own individual personality.

I think some are just more verbal than others. I have one who is now 6 years old and she got her name "Meow-Meow" as she never shuts up LOL. She constantly meows when she's not asleep it seems. She answers us when talking to her, when she wants something and even just looking at you she meows. I also have an orange tabby who doesnt seem to know how to meow. All that comes out of him is a little sqeak it seems although he does try. It's rather funny as he's a big kitty for only 8 months old. My third will meow and talk to you when you come in the front door as if to say "Hi, welcome home" then you dont hear from him until you leave and come in again.

I don't think it's a male/femal issue, but do you know if she has any particular breeding? My girls are half siamese, and boy can they ever get chatty! The first few weeks I had them I thought they were going to drive me nuts because I swear they didn't stop whining, lol. Now it's kinda enjoyable; they'll follow us around, or follow each other around and chitter chatter. Of course, sometimes I'm pretty darned sure we get told off in kitty speak . If she hasn't been in the home all that long, she really may settle down quite a bit once she gets used to her new home, or she really may just like talking!
Her hearing is okay, right?

I have a friend that has a beautiful long haired calico who talks ALL the time! Especially when her "Mom" is on the phone talking to me. Bubbles comes up and meows into the phone! She'll talk to anyone, she isn't particular Especially if you are talking to her, she responds. Ask her if she's pretty, she says "mea" Ask her who's pretty, she says "Me" That cat is a trip! I just adore her!

No...who knows what traits were bred into her.She is from a case of an unspayed female getting out and getting pregnant due to someone who is irrisponsible.
Illusion cries about EVERYTHING...when she wants something, when she IS getting something, when she is just walking/running around...all the time!
And yes her hearing is perfect!

my kitten will make these high pitch pips when she is purring to hard and is trying to meow. We call it her happy little noise since it is aonly when she is purring. When we frist got her for the first 2 weeks she made noise all the time becuase we figured she missed her mama. Once the other 2 cats started paying attention to her she quieted down so it jsut maybe that she is lonely and wants to find another cat to play with.
