Koko the greedy cat...

I have a large male siamese named Koko. He drives us nuts! He swallows his food whole and eats way way too fast no matter what we try. He ends up throwing up the undigested food minutes later (usually on good furniture or carpets) because he gobbled it down so fast!

We tried raising the dish off the ground in a tray but that only cut down on his gas (he gets cat farts from eating so fast too!).

Is there anyway to get a cat to eat slowly?
Today he threw up his breakfast on my $2,000 sofa cushion...

What are you feeding him?

I know They have dishes for dogs that has a raised area in the middle, so they have to eat around it.. you could do the same thing by putting a ball or something in the dish.. maybe a small bowl or cup flipped over inside his dish, so he can only get little bits at a time.. it might slow him down alittle. Or else you could find him a toy or something to put his food in, so that he has to work to get it out.

As the above poster said they make bowls for dogs with raised 'bubbles' to make the dog eat slower. Although those bowls may be to big for a cat.

Trying putting a ball (bigger than his mouth) or a toy (again to big to swallow) or try feeding him smaller meals

I ordered one of the food dishes with the bubble in the center for Ko last week so hopefully it will get here real soon!
He sucked down his breakfast at lightning speed yet again today and then puked half back up infront of the microwave on our counter (Gross!)
Bad kitty! Oh well at least it wasn't on any furniture or shoes this time...
hurry up UPS deliver that dish!!

Ko's new dish is here. I filled it up and put it down at the feeding station and he started heis usual gobble gobble routine -he walked around the dish as he ate to get around the center bubble problem so it slowed him down some but he still eats really fast. I guess I just need to wait a day or two now and see if he still upchucks any meals afterwards.

Have you tried giving him only about a half cup at a time?
