"but its ok for babies...
if shes being charged, then i think parents who pierce their babies ears should be charged with child abuse."
"SPCA Officer Carol Morrison said the kittens had 14-gauge piercings through their ears and submission rings at the napes of their necks."
People do not pierce their babies with 1 gauge piercings or submission rings.

I don't know why people are bringing farm animals up.
Horn buds on baby goats and cows are burnt so that they don't injure themselves and others and the pain is minimal!
Docking tails on sheep is so that it doesn't get infested with maggots and make the sheep get diseases and problems in their hind quarters.
Tagging cows is that they can be tracked for health issues and records.
All these procedures are to help the animals! Not to hurt them.
On the other hand, these horrid piercings on the poor cats do nothing at all. Simply cosmetic purposes.. Such as docking dog's tail to make them more attractive. Cats need their lovely tails for balance. Piercings could snag the skin, get infected, and ultimately kill the cat in the long run.
And babies (Why are they in this discussion?) shouldn't be able to get pierced until they're at least 6 so that they have a choice, this is just as cruel as the poor kittens.
Lastly, please know what you're talking about before you criticize poor farmers for their doing. I have a small farm of my own and would NEVER do anything unneccesary to my animals.

Oh oops, and maybe dogs with thick coats for the same reason as the sheep. Dunno too much about dogs.
Thanks for the correction though!

But I would NEVER in my life pierce an animal.
Just because people have piercings, doesnt mean animals should..
Seriously.. Think about it, i have my tongue pierced but would i pierce my cats tongue?
**** no.

Oh jeez...I hope people don't get the idea to start piercing other body parts on animals...

Why would anyone want to pierce their pet? And what on earth makes this woman think that piercing an animal makes it "Gothic"?
I just don't get it.

This would be illegal where I live, just as cutting off the tail and ears is illegal.
Some people are just weird... I do not see the point in harming your animal, for no good reason at all.
I'm not sure who I think is the idiot though. The person who wants to pierce the animal, or the person who does it...

I agree with cranberry. I think it's so sick, i have my tongue pierced and a couple other piercings as well but i would never ever do anything like that to my cat. People can do what they want with themselves but they should just leave their pets as they are instead of trying to make them fashionable. It's outrageous.
