I had to hand feed this morning. He is really resisting it now. I can't say how much food is going in him verses on me or the towel. My concern is since the pain med is a liquid that is mixed in the food he is not getting enough of it to benifit him properly. The appetite stimulant seems to have no effect on him. The other one she has that I could try apparently clashes with the pain med. But I think that is more important. If he didn't feel the pain he would eat. So I'll keep trying with the med. I just hope he starts to eat on his own soon. Otherwise it's going to be a very long next couple weeks.

HE DID IT!!! He ate by himself this morning!!!! I am soo excited! And I was worried last night. He was so slow and not himself . I was going to try hourly feedings today. Maybe he heard me think that, because he's a whole nother kitty this morning! He was even at my door meowing to be fed. He hasn't done that in weeks! I heard him and jumped out of bed and was so happy to see him there! I ran down and got everyones food ready, he was underfoot the whole time (normally I don't allow that, esp. in the kitchen but because of the situation I wasn't about to kick him out.) So I placed the food down and he came right over and just started eating!! I am beyond ecstatic! I just hope it holds up till his operation! Weeeeeeee, good start to the day!

That's awsome Lizz!! Yeah, the appetite stimulants take a bit of time to kick in...usually a day or two That's awsome though!! Now you know how I felt when I got Zeus to eat on his own the first time! Feels great doesn't it?

I'm so glad he's doing better, Lizz. I've been following this thread but every time I went to reply, a client came in or Gumbo had to pee.

Aww, thanks Jade.
Well, apparently I celebrated too soon. He's back to hand feeding. Both last night and this morning. Last night he had no interst what so ever and I was only able to get a few syringes into him. This morning he was atleast up, came to my door. He did take a few licks, but then nothing. I managed to get all his food in him (well relatively, save the mess all over me ) We'll see what he's like at dinner :?

He ate his dinner, yeah! So hopefully he'll continue to chose to eat occasionally. We'll see how it goes tonight.

Well today he had his blood work done. The results will be sent directly to the specialist so I don't know how he did, but I assume everything is fine. I'm sure they'll let me know if there is something wrong. He's lost half a pound, but the vet wasn't too concerned. Just got to make sure he doesn't loose anymore. He's a bit miffed at the bald spot on his chest, But otherwise just fine!

i'm glad things are going well for you!
i had to hand feed pixel for one day, and it was incredibly frustrating and stressful, so i really admire you for your ability to deal with this problem.
