Well..................Jim and I found a kitten. And when I say kitten, I mean a 2 day old baby.
We're walking along, when we hear, "Squeek! Squeek! Squeek!" So I look over to a small field behind some houses, and I'm like, "Jim, go look in there." So he does and finds the baby kitten. There was an adult cat nearby that scampered away, but we didn't hear any other kittens at all.

So I have him look in a few of the big bushes to see if he sees the litter. Nothing. I'm figuring, if there is a litter, even if the mom cat is there, they would still squeek a little. So we figure one of two things - the mom cat was moving them, or she kicked this one out. We had no idea if that adult cat we saw was even the mom cat.
Soooooooooo..........I took it. Of course. I mean, I couldn't just leave it out in a freaking field in 40 degree weather when I didn't know if there was a mom cat or what.
So we immediately went to Petsmart before they closed and bought KMR (milk replacement) and a bottle and nipples for it. Then we swung by the Vet ER to get some info. The nurse agreed that it was best to take it, said it looks like a boy, and that we should feed him every two hours and then stimulate him to pee. We fed him a little there, and then I stimulated him and he peed. So that's good. She said to make sure he poo's, though. So we'll see next time he eats (at 11pm Central).
We got a big tupperware thing, put a blanket on the bottom, a reading lamp inside (the kind that pivot around), and another blanket for him to cuddle in. We also added a beanie baby type
stuffed animal. He is pretty comfy in there, but he mostly likes to lay on us under our shirt/sweater. He's on my ribs right now, under my sweater.
I think we made the right decision. If anything, at least there's another cat not making more babies and that will be neutered and shotted and taken care of.
And I've named him. Since we saw a lot of these on our walk and talked about them a lot, I named him Bluebonnet. Blue for short. I have no idea if we'll keep him. If we do, he'll have to be indoor/outdoor like Charlie (because of our doggy door, etc). If not, we'll adopt him to a good home.
Well, that's the story. I'll post pics in a bit.
