I Finally Rode with my English Saddle last Sunday!

I purchased my English saddle (complete setup) over a year ago and never got to use it. Well, I decided that my new horse, Sky, is going to be my horse that I learn English on. Wow! Is she a little spitfire! Nothing that can't be worked with, but she has a beautiful prance, trot and she has beautiful spirit. I can see her being a beautiful dressage horse, no problem. I couldn't figure out the saddle at all. I have a cinch that is hard to cinch up, and I had it on all wrong (never having done it before) and was lucky that an instructor was out giving instructions that day, I took full advantage of it. I paid her for a lesson at the end of all of her help. I was glad to. Because I finally got to ride English for a day and it felt great. I am so excited. I can't wait to go back out. I will be a while though. My fibromyalgia is acting up, which led to my back tightening up and I now have a sprained back (just from getting up from a chair!) it sucks. I can barely move, walk or sit. I am on huge pain killers and they will just barely touch the pain. Can you believe my luck? I am starting to take my life a little more seriously now, I'm getting older, and need to do my exercises daily (after I heal) like my specialist told me to do, so this doesn't happen again. Heck, I have too much to do. I have started my daily vitamins (like a good girl) and my calcium too. Because this way I am now, I am useless to everyone. I can't even go out and brush my horses this way. Pooh. But, I have alot of excitement built up inside of me and I can't wait. I want to go and take pictures of my horses, but I can't drive. But, when I can, you all hold on to your hats, because my horses are looking so beautiful! And where they are is awesome! Green pastures, just great. Oh, and my colt that I gave to a friend last year, well, he is back with us! My friend couldn't keep him anymore, so she sold him to the lady that I am boarding with! So, I will get to watch him grow up! He is getting to be quite the big boy. I will take pictures of him too. Sorry for the book this has turned out to be, I am just so excited. Thanks for listening.

congrats on going riding! that must he been fun for you and sky! i'm sorry you're not feeling well. my grandma (not trying to make you feel old, cause you're not) has fibromyalgia too, or had it. she got a flu shot and it set it off badly. but she's okay now from what I hear. i really hope you feel better soon!! keep those spirits up and you'll be good to go in no time!

manyjumps93, I absolutely loved it! I have never felt so close to a horse before! It's like you can "feel" what they are thinking. I know that sounds weird, but it's the best way that I can explain it. I really think it is for me. I can't wait to get back out there. I was really worried at first that it would be hard to balance on an english saddle, but I found it to be just the opposite. I felt really comfortable and "as one" with the horse. It was, just . . . GREAT!
And, mulder, thank you so much for the good wishes. I have a good, strong will right now. And a great desire to get back on those horses! hee hee. I'll get better quick. It just sucks because I just was getting better from being down 2 weeks in bed from an upper resp. infection/flu! Some days you just feel like you can't win. But I eventually will !!! If you can keep up the positive thinking, I know you can win! So, I will, right? This is just a little setback. But, thanks again.

I know! I just LOVE it and I was scared I was gonna fall off at the canter and I now feel more comfy in a english saddle then I do a western. I sat in a western the other day I kept telling the man "higher" for my stirrups poor guy prolly thought I was nuts! I gotta have my stirrup iron bottom touching my ankle that its the jumper way for stirrups =] very comfy to me lol
