HORSE lovers should not miss the Merdeka Masters 2003,which is being organised by Equestrian Promotion Sdn Bhd.
The four-day competition and side shows are being held at 3Q Equestrian Centre in Kuang, Rawang until Sunday.
The 3Q Equestrian Centre is an idyllic country club with facilities for horses and riders as well as covered stands for spectators around the showjumping arena.
Under the direction of national showjumper Quzier Ambak Mahamad Fathil, the Malaysian Open has attracted entries from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Australia, The Philippines, Scotland and Sweden.
The show opened yesterday afternoon with two dressage competitions where riders and horses were required to demonstrate progress in suppleness, balance and obedience.
Showjumping begins today where riders and the horses have to negotiate a course of obstacles.
Tomorrow, the International Open Challenge will start at 3pm and the MTU Grand Prix Special at 5.15pm.
Sunday will feature the TNB World Cup SEA League at 3pm, the World Cup SEA League Young Riders at 5pm, and the Manugistics Open 6 Bar at 6.15pm.
Visitors to the Merdeka Masters can enjoy free pony and horse carriage rides this weekend from 10am to 5pm, children's colouring contests and performances by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Victoria Institution brass bands.
