Aww, Scarlette, I'm so sorry that you're going to have to do this. At least you're doing the right thing. Foxy is old and weak and hurting, and she'll move onto a better place. When she was with you she knew love, kindness, and she always had a full stomach! I know this is really tough to do, letting go of a loved one, but it's for the best. Hang in there!

Scarlette I hope Foxy is feeling much better soon! If she does have to be put to sleep, we are keeping you in our prayers, I cant imagine losing any animal I have, especially if I had them for 17+ years! We are keeping you in our thoughts!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.
Foxy passed over the rainbow bridge at 2:15 pm today. I stayed with her through the entire thing, petting her and telling her what a good horse she has been while the other 3 horses stood around us. I hope she knows just how much she was loved.

Oh wow, that took some thought I'm sure. I have a 15 year old dog, while not a horse, I've had him since he was a pup and can feel something you are going through as he is getting sick as well. I'm a big time horse lover and I know that must have taken alot out of you. Older animals do lose their way, and their minds somewhat. They forget where they are, even though they could have been their all their life...they have their moments, very similar to how people do. My dog sometimes forgets where the steps are on the balcony and can't come back upstairs to be let in when he's outside. I have to go and get him. I can see how she could have been confused and is why she ended up in the mud too. You'll be fine soon enough, and it was for the best, you just have to convince yourself that it was - and since you've already had her put down, you probably have come to the realization that is hard for everyone that has ever done it. We are all thinking of you.
