I bought 4 degus for my son in early March. They are ll girls and we have fallen in love with the lil cuties. There is a mom and 3 daughters and usually they get along great..well until yesterday.
Yesterday they were all fighting like crazy to the point that the mom bit the littlest one and she was bleading from her leg. So we seperated the little one and put her in the cage we use for "cage cleaning day" and kept a close eye on her all night. Everything seemed calm and well till this afternoon when i was walking past the cage and noticed movement from a seemingly empty hammock. I looked insie and discovered 6 tiny babies!!!!!!
Now i understand all the fighting, looking back i remember the fighting always happening when one of the three sissies went near the hammock. Mom would always chace them away..it was my "ah ha" moment..lol
So now we have put the mom and the new
babies in the seperate cage. Wow are they the cutest things EVER!! From the looks of them compared to internet pics i have seen it looks like they were born sometime yesterday.
Any tips or hints on taking care of the new additions is appreciated and welcomed!!
