Babies imminent???

I have two sets of degus in two cages (male/male, female/female) but they were all together at the petshop, so I figured that the females might possibly be pregnant. One of the females miscarried some very tiny pups when I got her, but the other girl has been getting steadily larger. I had her sitting on my palm yesterday and saw something kicking her side, then felt kicks on my palm from her underbelly! I watched her a long time to see if it was just her breathing, and it was definitely a rolling, squirming motion inside. Eek! I have made her a little nesting box and put bedding material around so she can shred it the way she wants, but is there anything else I should be doing for her? She's eating well and is very active and friendly. She is the dominant degu in her cage. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance,
Susan

I would seperate the two females. Everything says that two females can be together when a litter is born but you never know, the one female may destroy the babies. With her being the dominant female she may even fight the other female.

Thanks, Nancy! Can you give me tips on escape proofing the cage? How small should the spaces be? I hope mine will be OK, but I can move her to an aquarium if need be. Thanks for all your help!!!

Thanks, Nancy! The babies aren't here yet, but Pookums is getting bigger and the babies are getting squirmier! She has a big appetite and is friendly as ever, and likes to sit on my palm and nearly doze off. Cute! I was relieved to hear that the 1 x 1/2 inch size wire was alright, whew - And what a picture I have from your description of the poor babies riding that wheel!!! Lol! Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
Take care,
Susan
