gizmo's new friend

We went looking for a companion for Gizmo. We bought a black dwarf rabbit and they love each other. We named her Bunny and she's very sweet. Not an hour after putting her in with Gizmo they began grooming each other. Thanks everyone for your help with info about not getting a hamster.

Thats so cool. I didn't know that rabbits and degus get along together, but we don't have degus here so that probably why. I'm glad Gizmo won't be lonely anymore!

the diet requirements are totally different and they canīt communicate with each other. The bunny is probably still young, if it becomes sexually mature, it can hurt the degu.
Sorry to tell you that, you might want to keep looking for a degu and get a companionrabbit for the bunny.

Actually, bunnies and degu's both eat a lot of the same things. All you have to do is feed them some extra stuff outside of the cage. (Be sure the degu doesn't eat the bunny's food with sugars and simple starches) Also, Phoebe is probably right about the mating issue, separate them before the bunny becomes sexually mature. If they get along, I don't see why you can't keep them together until you get another degu.
