Good news! Imaña’s brush is growing back!!

Quite a while ago, I posted a question about Imaña’s tail. The little tuft of hair at the tip of it was quite sparse and pitiful looking. (Also learned that tuft has a name – it’s a brush – thank you Amythest!)

At any rate, I just wanted to report that it is growing back in quite nicely, and I am very pleased! I am not sure what caused it to become sparse, but perhaps Imaña herself was over-grooming it, or stressed out over something.

I’m quite happy it’s growing back, as she looks like a proper Goo. I’ve always adored her brush, because it’s white, and stands out from the rest of her. It is her most outstanding feature, I think! Now she looks like herself again!

Here you can see her white brush, inside the red circle:

I didn't know it could be white either! In fact, I wondered for a while if it would mean any inherited, genetic health problems. But I don't think it does because she is still going strong at almost 6 years of age.

Is it common for their brush to be white? I've never seen another Goo with white.

Thanks to all for being excited for me. I'm so happy it's coming back!

It's definitely not common. I've seen a few degus with white markings but it seems to be kind of rare .

White is uncommon in degus and occasionally you will see patches of it, often in pups which tends to grow out

Ooooo cool! Imana is so very special!!! Yay!

I decided last night that I want to get a very good picture of her and her white brush. I might take a photo on a black backdrop, so it will stand out more.

She's very cute

One of my girls has some white on her brush, but it's not as noticeable as your little girl's
