My 2 new rescues - Paw Talk

I finally have the time to get round to doing this so let me introduce you guys to my two latest rescues (yeah i know i'm a sucker and a degu addict

) Bandit and Rolo

Rolo

They came to me through a member of my degu forum and she had taken them in from their previous home where they had been kept in a glorified mouse cage all their lives and basically mistreated

The lady from my forum unfortunately didn't have the time to dedicate to them fully and asked if i would be interested in taking them in so i offered them a forever home with me and my goo's. Bandit despite his bad life is very outgoing and trusting but Rolo is petrified of everything, they have been here a month and he is slowly starting to come round with a lot of hard work and love but he still has a long way to go

I'm so glad i have them too as they can now start to have a proper life and despite everything they are both so loving

you said that they are tame I am having trouble getting mine to be nice the mama is nice but the babies freek out evertime i put my hand in the cage I can't get them to mello out. mama walks right into my hand but the babies run away.how do I get them to love me

It takes a lot of time and patience. If you have a look on my website in my signature i have written a thorough guide on there to introductions. Basically you need to set aside extra time each day to work with them, sit near the cage so you are at their level and speak softly to them, usually they will come upto the bars and see what you want. Progress to putting your hand flat in the cage and letting them investigate, again sitting quietly or talking softly to them and always reward them with a treat
