best thing to do would be to take it into a vet and ask them what to do. vets are a pet owners best friend. i know that a degus gestation period is right around 90 days, so if she just started losing her fur recently that might be why and you should get it checked out for sure. the only other thing i can think of for a reason would be what you are feeding her, what type of food are you giving them, and are you feeding them anything besides the food and timothy hay?

What are you feeding them? lots nuts etc could be just getting fat.
Is she/he more aggressive towards you? sign of pregnancy
how long has she been losing her/his fur? This might be as simple as over grooming try taking the dust bath out and only put it in the cage for 20mins each day

Signs to look out for if female is pregnant: following you round the cage then 'eek'. Making a nest out of anything they can find.

well its a good sign that he/she isnt aggressive. you also need to check to make sure one is a girl. there are guides online as to how to tell and if you cant tell im sure a pet shop or a vet could. either way, a check up can only hurt the bank, not the degu =P

How long has the fat one been getting fat for? Has he/she always been fat or has it happened over a period of time? Has the fatter one slowed down any or is he/she acting normally? If its near the end of the gestation period you should be able to see the babies moving inside her if you watch closely. I'm not sure what a vet can do to be honest regarding whether a degu is pregnant or not as you really shouldn't handle a pregnant degu. If you think she is maybe think about preparing the cage for birth just incase and keep a close eye on them as you will need to remove the male if babies are born
