Transporting Degus?


any tips for transporting degus in cars? i'm going to pick up a new degu tomorrow and i thought i should bring mine along to meet him. How should i get him there? the cage is too big...a box maybe? tell me quick!

I would bring your degu to the store to find out if they get along first. Nothing like intruducing a new degu to a cage that has one already and they do nothing but fighting. The degu in the cage already will have presedence in the home and it won't be neutral territory. We received a cardboard box with breathing holes when we bought our degus.....you have to poke their noses back in so they won't tear the box to shreds during the drive home. Anything like a wire cage with a solid floor should be enough as well if you don't wanna supervise him/her during the drive home.
