Travel Cage

My mom recently passed away after her six year battle with cancer, and my family has come to the conclusion that we need to go spend some time at the beach due to no longer being needed at home all the time. My question is really, what size cage would be decent for keeping them safe for 3-4 days, this includes bar size, would 1/2" be ok, or should it be smaller? Any smaller than 1/2" would require a day or two so that I could seal off the cage with extra wire, so quick responses are greatly appreciated.

You should be able to keep them in a single rat cage for that amount of time without any issues. My colony travelled home to see my parents with me in a single rat on the train overnight and they were fine! They also stayed in that cage for a week while I was there.
