When my Degu was out earlier, she found a stray cornflake on the floor (results of breaking a Hoover and not buying a new one) and she scoffed it down!
I worried about sugar and checked packet and there is a very little, but is it still safe?

She seemed quite energetic afterwards!
Just one won't harm her but I wouldn't make it a habit . Stick to sugar-free treats (herbs and veggies being the healthiest options).

Yeah, exactly.
Sugar-free/Very low-sugar treats are best for degu´s.
I give my girls half a hazelnut (or sometimes a whole per each, with a shell on, to give something to chew on, too)/month as a treat.
And every day a small amount of dried dandelion leaves, they go crazy for them ^-^
Sometimes I give them few rolled oats too, but not too often
