I live in Maryland like 30 minutes from Rockville and I wanted to get Degus from someone but they stopped breeding them. Are you going to sell any of them? I finally saw one in a pet store up close and they are just awesome!

I can't believe how quick these little ones are growing, I went into the room where the degus are kept and 3 of the 6 were sitting in the hay bowl munching.

Just read this thread! Congrats on the babies they are adorable! I am sorry about little Bob.

I just saw a degu in person at the pet store and they are very cute! I think I'm going to read up on them and see if they could make a good pet for my kids(and me of course).
I have to make sure that they don't want to escape their home and have the potencial dog mauling death, that would break my heart!

I'm going to keep checking in here and see how everyone is doing!

Wilmas babies have all went to new homes. Actually Wilma and Fred went to new homes as well. The lady that got them has several already so I did not have the worry that any of them would be inbred. There was one little boy and 5 little girls in the litter.

I just remembered my questions that I was going to ask before when I posted. Can the babies be handled or does the mommy go momma bear on the person?
How hard or easy is it to familiarize the babies to humans and are they sort of guinea pig like as far as being held and cuddled or are they happier interacting on a chatty just talk don't touch kind of basis?

With all three litters of babies we had here, I held them from day one. Mom never seemed to mind and still took excellent care of them.
