3 sizes of pups - Paw Talk

My 2nd Blackbear female (RIP Honey) gave birth to 6 pups, 4 male and 2 females. 2 of the males are smaller, the smallest died due to starvation, as I coudlnt get it to nurse.

I have been told this is a rare litter, as 1 is a Roborski and one is a mix Roborski hamster, as the rest are normal size. The runt, was killed by mom yesterday :o( so I weaned the others fromher to save the other mini. Here is a Pic, Can I get your comments on this event?

I am guessing the Surrogate mom thought the Runt was a different species and detroyed it... It DID have its eyes open when it was killed.

oh those poor pups, hope the others will be ok.

I immediately weaned the other pups from the Surrogate mom.. the following day, She went in Heat. I guess dealing with puppies for 2 months can get to any mommy hamster. She did raise the orphans nearly 90%. The other pups are fine, the surviving female has the exact Personality of her mom. As do the males.
