Well, just an update. I took Flurry to the vet and she shows no signs of any infection, so the vet said to try that CareFresh bedding, and if that doesn't work to try some different foods because she might have an allergy. So, i'm just relieved that it's nothing contageous. The vet also said that there shouldn't be any genetic defects if i breed her with Tucker because they're rodents and that sort of thing usually isn't a problem for them. I'm still holding it off for a little while, though.

Just thought you'd all like to know

I hope all goes well with your vet visit. Let us know what the vet tells you? I would lilke to hear his opinion (or hers, hehe) The world is filled with all types of people with different opinions...life is too short to let others bother you at all. I have spoken to many people who breed hamsters who tell me that our dwarfs are all kind of related, being able to trace them back to just a few hammies. There are health risks associated with breeding any animal at all. And it sounds like you are taking the time to find out all you can before doing so...I just had to say that far from wanting to attack you I think you should be congratulated for asking in the first place.

Thank you very much; I appreciate your kindness.

So, just another update: I've been using the Carefresh bedding with Flurry since the vet visit. I haven't noticed her scracthing more than a few times. I'm gonna give it another week before i set her out and examine her for like an hour to see how much scratching she's really doing. But, so far it seems like less

Also, i adopted an albino dwarf from PetCo. It's 7 weeks old. There were two babies, and the other one is definitely male, though i'm not entirely sure with this one, so i'm leanind towards female. I do know how to tell the sex, but when they're constantly squirming, it's hard to get a good look... especially when they're so small. But, since the other one was very easily determined as male, i'm pretty sure this is female. But, either way, i'm gonna use that one for breeding, so now i definitely don't have to worry about genetic defects due to relation. ;-)

The rat babies are 7 weeks old, aslo, and man they're getting big. And the boys are overly big, if you know what i mean! ;-)

They're all quite happy and healthy, though, and we're still looking for homes. I just thought you'd like an update with that too.
