Gerbil Acting Weird


Hi I just baught my first gerbil and I dont know what wrong with him ive had him for
4 days and i cant get near him. Anytime i go to pick him up out of the cage he runs away from me, and also i can barely hold him in my hands. He is a young male albino gerbil.

Can someone help me?

Hey thanks i just sat in the tub for 20 minutes now when i put my hand in the cage he doesnt run away like he used too maybe if i do it every night for the next week he will let me take him out of the cage without any trouble.

Well when I got my Gerbils they wouldn't let me hold them at first either. He needs to get used to you. Try just putting your hand in his cage. He should be curios and sniff it, give him food by hand let him know you are a friend not an enemy. Then start picking him up inside the cage but don't remove him. Remember he is still getting used to you.
I have an "albino" too really they aren't albino because they have become so commen if he has red eyes he would be called a Red Eyed White or a REW I also have a Brown Gerbil. Gerbils are friendly and like to live together.
Your gerbie just might miss his friends. Don't forget it just takes time and patience.

U nees to be paitnet with him (I know, I've bread, and raised them!) He is probally nevoice of you, he'll let you touch him sometime
