Introducing a New buddy?

Well.. I was thinking about getting A new gerbil I saw at PetSmart today. They were the cutest color of tan! . Anywho, I was talking to my mom about it and she said that they may fight. And I do beileve her. What can I do to prevent it? I think I have a big enough cage for A divider, but He'll be alone! And I don't think my mom will get me 2 more, even though my mom knows I take complete responsibility over them, even though she has to help me clean their cage once a week. But I feed them and everything.. (sorry.. I ramble alot!). Anyway, are there anyways or techniques I can prevent them from being too territorial and attacking the new one without a divider? Thanks

Yeah, I got another gerbil and they fought. I got a nother cage for her and I pushed them together.
