My boys fought today

My 6 boys fought today. 8( Well... just 2 of them fought, but I separated them in 3 pairs. I went to the store to get Odie's pee pads and some wood shavings and when I arrived I found on of the white boys bloodied up on one side (he was fine before I went to the store, I do a head count on all cages each morning, so this happened in the hour I was out). I checked them and the agouti one was a bit bloodied up too, so I separated both agressors. Right when I went to separate them, they engaged in the fight again. Lucky for me I did not get bitten cause I grabbed the wood branch and separated them with that, instead of sticking my hand like the other 2 times I've been bitten. This is the worst fight I've ever had, though, the other one was during an intro and the second time I got bitten, it wasn't really a fight, but when Deb got Link's tail through the split cage. So, I separated the 2 boys, and then figure who got along with who. I tried Mr. Black Guy (I decided to keep that name... lol) with the white one, but he attacked Black. Then I tried Porto, and he attacked Porto too. I tried the other white one (since they are same litter brother) and he attacked him too. Last, I tried to other black one, and at last, a match! I was thinking about leaving the other 4 boys together, but the agouti one (the other involved in the fight) was being a bit mean to Mr. Black Guy, so I decided not to risk it and divided them too, Porto and the agouti and Mr. Black Guy with the other white one. I cleaned both injured gerbils, (the white one was not please about it, he's being really mean today. I've seen them both going along in their normal gerbil activities, eating, drinking, sleeping, being groomed by their respective cagemates, etc. So I think they will make it. I'm still keeping a close eye on them, specially the white one, since he got the worst injuries (all injuries on both gerbs are on the cheek and front leg area of one side of their body). It's been an stressful day.

Thanks. Well, they look much better today. You can't hardly notice that the agouti boy (which I have named Merlot) has fought at all. The white one (still unnamed) you can still see some of the wounds, but looks so much better than yesterday. 8)

Sorry they fought. I'm glad you were smart enough to separate them.

I'm sorry one of your little guys got hurt. When my hamster got hurt in a fight she was bleeding a little so I called a 24 hr. vet place and one of the doctors said if it's an open wound to put a little peroxide on it with a Q-tip and you may want to put on some gauze on the parts that are bleeding (if it's real bad.)
hope he gets better

Thanks. It's been 3 days since the fight. That day I cleaned the wounds with a bit of peroxide and put on a bit of neosporin and since then I have left them to heal naturally. They have been doing great. My sis got a new camera and I'll put it to the test later today, so I might post pics of how the wounds are doing after 3 days. 8)
