You definatly need to seperate the males from the female then.Otherwise once she gives birth, she will get pregnant right after.

have fun with the new pups check out this link www.gerbilbreeding.com it is alot of help it isnt great to seperate the parents without another gerbil to help raise them my suggestion would be to keep them together, have them raise this litter and take the boys and the dad out when the litter is 5 weeks and have the girls help mom raise the second litter

take out the males, chances are, today was not the first time, you have no idea when she is due. Just because you saw them today doesn't mean that it was the first time.

If she gets lonely, you can get her another female friend...make sure it is female though. But chances are,she will be busy with the babies anyway and you can then keep one of her daughters.

He isn't trying to breed with her now, because she is already pregnant.Once she gives birth, she will go into heat again and he will mate with her again. This resulting in more babies obviously.
She will probably be fine looking after the babies herself.
Rats are very social animals and do perfectly by themselves raising their young.

Also keep this in mind, males sometimes get angry if they are taken away from their mate and can become aggressive.

ok, i posted this in the chat box but i'll post it here:
hi i need to know why my female gerbil is bleeding form her private part, she is also pregnant and isnt long before she gives birth (i estimate about a week mabe longer) she hasnt eaten vegetables and no runny poos or bloody pees.
my mum thinks it could be beacuse of she is getting closer to birth.
