My hamsters aren't mating?!

hey
I wish to breed my female and male dwarf winter white hamster together, but but everytime i put the felmale into the males cage he speaks very loudly because he gets so scared and the female seems to attack him!

I don't know what causes this behaviour because I have used the exact same method many times before and the hamsters have been fine together. The male I have is quite new and probably about 2 months or older. Is this too young? I know they are the same species definetely. But its just the male because i've bred from the female before.

Everytime I put her in he sqeaks and runs around in A LOT! I'm thinking of returning him because he just doesn't seem suitable for breeding unless anyone can explain this behaviour??

Thankyou for any replies!

Or probably she isn't in heat when you put them together so she doesn't want anything to do with him...

riiiiiiight....hamsters dont sex it up whenever you want them to. they don't get "in the mood". females are either in heat and sexually receptive, or they're not. you must wait until the heat arrives for her to be accepting of the male.

Although WW are on heat every 4 days or so, they have to be receptive... In the wild they do not mate during the winter, the female is infertile... And comes on heat at spring time...
