Question

Prognosis on Scent Gland Tumor?

Cliffy just turned three. I think he has a scent gland tumor.

What is the prognosis on this condition, and the survival rate if there is surgery for a gerbil that old?

I am asking those who might have known about this situation from experience.

I know the tumors are easily operated on. My worry would be the anesthetic. Did you ask your vet?

My friend had the procedure done on her gerbil successfully. He was two years old (I believe).

Question

I am waiting for her e-mail. If I don't get it I will call, but I expect nothing could be done until after the holidays with the Fourth of Juily weekend almost here.

What about blood loss as a concern??

Sorry, I just saw this now. Any news? It's a very "clean" surgery; blood loss is minimal. But I am interested in what your vet said about the anesthetic.

I don't know anything about it, but wanted to say good luck, and keep us posted.
