Unhappy

*Sighs* Boys Boys Boys!

My hamsters are brothers. I know that hamsters fight as they get older...but my ?? is that why would 10 month old hamsters ( that are brothers) fight? Well, I know that is a territorial thing...but still.

Story:

I was cleaning out the cage. And since the cage is BIG and expensive,
I only bought one. The sales person told me that my hamsters will fight so I put a peice of plexiglass in the middle to seperate them so they won't fight. Anyway, I took the glass out and one of them ran over...and all of a sudden I heard *squeek squeek* I looked over and my hammies were on top of each other. FIGHTING! I quickly seperated them and was totally scared. Now they are fine but I am still scared and wondering "they are brothers...so why are they fighiting?" I would like to hear other ppls stories if they have any...so I can learn from them.

Thanks!

Mimi (my name) lol

Hi,

It's a shame that they feel the need to fight, huh?

I've had similar experiences, and have even done the glass divider as you've mentioned.

And it starts young. At one point, a couple of my hamsters had babies. I moved the male... but you know, the babies started fighting - to the death - as soon as they opened their eyes.

It's quite sad, really. Good luck.
