The little escapee-lucky to be alive
Little miss Snickers, my hammie thinks its quite funny to escape from her cage! I have 2 cats and if she isn't careful...
~I guess it started one night when she popped out her water bottle and escaped for awhile. I have a critter trail two story bar cage and it should be a lot better for how expensive. Anyway so we found her stuck in a pant leg and when we tried to get her out she was scared to death and I swear probably jumped at least three feet. Scared me too! Well she got back in her cage.
~ The second time she escaped from a spot where you can add tubes but you don't have to, it has a blocker or whatever. She escaped from there and [[you won't believe this]] scared the cat out of the bedroom. Lucky he was young and didn't know. I heard a ruckus in the night and it was her chasing him out of the bedroom. Safe that time, back in her cage.
~ Today she climbed out an open door, a bit suspicous. We locked the cats in the bathroom and searched all over for her and little miss lucky was safe again, nibbling stuffed animals in the bedroom corner. Let's hope she doesn't escape again!
~Sorry its long just thought I would share.

Oh my! Looks like you need to find a more secure cage for your little Houdini! Then again, who knows if it would hold her! I'm glad that she's been safe so far, and I hope the trend continues, or that she stops escaping. Good luck!

Yes the little bugers are escape masters!!! Mine have escaped a few times also!! I have all three of mine in plastic bin cages and had drilled a hole for the water bottle. Well, I noticed my cats food disappearing at an unbelievable rate! After scolding her for a few days for being such a piggie, I pulled out Patches' cage for a cleaning and discovered nearly half a bag of cat food in the corner between her cage and the wall!!! Little snot had chewed a larger opening where her bottle was and had been roaming the house every night for who knows how long!!! She was always in her cage in the morning, so I never had a clue!!! I have since changed their bottles to the Ovo water bottles so no more holes in the bins!!! Coco has been discovered twice out of his cage in the mornings--once with my cat sitting a few feet away not sure what to think!!!
Sounds like Snickers is as lucky as mine--hope their luck holds out!!!!!

I once had a hamster who without fail would escape every night until I got a new cage for her. The funny thing is that she was so friendly that she would just look for me anyways .
Try an aquarium or bin cage, they're trickier to escape from .

Thanks!! I can't believe that your hamster would escape and then come back! That's very funny!
