Looks like you got some great advice over at GL. I wish you luck and hope things get better.

Olivia has had only one dose of the metro (Flagyl) AB and this morning she is running around her cage, voraciously eating hay and drinking water like it's going out of style!! Of course, it's too early to tell if the diarrhea's any better, but she's acting like she feels better at least. I'll keep you posted!

Olivia is back to moping around the cage and her diarrhea is actually a bit worse today. I cleaned her up real good yesterday with a baby wipe to make sure all of the mess was off her little bottom and today it's back. How long should I expect this drug to take effect on her actual diarrhea? I'm certainly worried...

Olivia does not have any squishy poops stuck to her butt this morning! I am also seeing firmer poops in the cage!

Could it be? Could she ACTually be getting better?!!

Glad to hear it! I went through the same thing with one of my pigs and it was such a relief to see normal poops! LOL!

Yes, it certainly is!! However, she had normal poops during/right after her treatment with SMZ, but it just came right back a day or so after treatment stopped. I'm praying that using this metro is the real deal for her.

BTW - what did your piggie have? How did you treat it?

Honestly, I think my piggie had the lack of a good diet along with some stress. I 'rescued' her from a pet store...she was their breeder's pig.

She was very skinny and loaded with lice. I think it took her system awhile to adjust, once starting a healthy diet and getting used to a new home.

First she had runny poops (had to clean her feet with an old toothbrush...yuck!) then we went in the opposite direction with a bowel obstruction! The vet treated her with Prilosec and Reglan.
Her teeth even went through a stage when they kept breaking, but now they're healthy and strong!

Sorry to go on...I do hope Olivia 'straightens' out!

Poor gal. Sounds like she's headed in the right direction.

SpottyPoo How is she??

I am especially worried about this little gal because Finni had this same symptom and I was just about to put him on Flagyl when he died.

She is NOT doing well at all. Completely anorexic -- will not eat pellets, hay, baby food, Critical Care or water/pedialyte. I don't know what the heck to do anymore!!!!!!!!!
