I think it looks pretty good for your first try. He'll do fine in it until you can get something better. Good luck!

the appearance of the cage doesn't really matter. As long as your piggy is happy in his new home. And you can upgrade when you have the supplies you need.

Don't fret it looks great, my guinea pig lived in a dog carrier in our living room on a table stand between the tv and the fish tank, and he had an avon box lid porch, bucause he was old and he didn't like being locked up so he had a porch and he watched tv with the Family. But my guinea pigs never really were playful, they were lazy... haha, But i loved them dearly.

As mos tof everyone said, DONT FRET. Making cages is hard and take some seasoning to get used to. So don't worry, the fact that you tired to make you piggy happy is far and beyond of what normal piggy owners do. SO PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK!
Target carries those metal cubes chloroplast cages need. Very nice too. A cheaper way would be to continue with your bin. Id buy another one (when youve got the cash) and make them connect via tunnel.
As far as toys go...
A small empty box filled with bits of hay and treats. (I mean like tissue box or smaller sized.) Close the box so the guinea has to do some bits of chewing or rough play to get to the treats. Don't make it hard though. it fun to watch them play with this stuff. Be sure the box doesn't have decals or anything plastic they can chew.
- paper bags
- their water bottles (they will play with the ball inside the spout, sometimes just to hear the noise)
- big, overturned flower pots (NOT plastic!)
- scrunched up balls of blank computer paper (nothing with dyes on it) with a tidbit inside
- PVC pipes to hide in
- big paper towel rolls or toilet paper cardboard rolls
- old clothes or towels you don't want anymore
- old socks filled with hay
- small, empty cardboard boxes, with perhaps a side taken out, or sturdy enough for Piggy to perch on
- shoeboxes with part cut out so piggy can poke his or her head out
