Pongo
I've had Pongo now for 6 days. He's still very shy but so far he has eaten a carrot from my hand and cuddled with me a lot. I was lucky enough to witness him popcorn yetserday. I feel so bad for him- separated from his family (who there were a lot of). It just reminds me of how sad kittens/puppies get after you bring them home. I've been giving him a variety of different vegetables each day and he already has his favorites. He's just so small and cute. <3

Welcome to PAWTALK!!!
He is so gorgeous!
Could you not get him a buddy?
Because while he is still young he would bond quickly with another buddy!!

He is really cute.
I agree,get him a buddy.Same sex of course!
I have a lone piggy. He had a buddy tho (R.I.P) and they were so cute together. As for being shy,he will come around. My current boy was very timid and shy when I first got him,but he is now very outgoing and cuddly!
Good luck with your li'l Pongo.

I wish I could get him a buddy. Sadly I can't. His cage is only big enough for him and I can't afford to get him a bigger one for him and a friend. After february I can spend all I want, but for right now my mom is making me save almost everything (save the costs of everyday stuff.) I have been keeping my eye on kijiji incase a good bargain comes along, but if it doesn't, I will have to wait until february. Would that be fine though? Or would he be too old then to introduce a friend?

I think it really depends on the piggy's personality!
But most peoples piggys Esp. males dont accept other males when they get older.
But you could also try a female but get her or him spayed?
Or rescue a spayed female?
Im sure someone else will come along with better advice!

It is possible he still may accept another piggy.

A spayed female might be the best bet. We will see. I will definitely let you guys know how it goes when the time comes.

That's untrue about males. They're very easy to introduce -- it's all a matter of personality. Usually when male pigs "don't get along" or "don't like other males" it's because introductions are done improperly or they're in tiny pet store cages.

He is such a funny guy. He popcorns so much, it is crazy. it took him a little while to figure out how to use a water bottle, instead of a water dish. Instead of licking the ball, he would bite it, xD. He's just so cute. I'm really glad I got him.

Not that I have noticed... but he has discovered how to chew. He chews his bars sometimes, he chews his house- which is fine. It doesn't bother me at all. But he has started nibbling me- no big deal, until yesterday when he bit down, left teeth marks and broke the skin. I had only had him out for a few minutes, and he had just settled down on my blanket. I was letting him go where he wanted, but he chose not to hide. He had seemed completely relaxed- he wasn't doing anything and then out of nowhere he bit. Is this a phase gp's go through? Or does Pongo just like to chew?
