Question

Sexing Guinea Pigs...HELP!!!

I bought a new 2 month old piggie last night. When I bought it, as far as I could tell, it looked like a boy, which is what I needed, as my other piggie is male. When I introduced the two, they both got excited, making lots of noise, to which I thought, Oh yay, they like each other!!. But after a few moments of sniffing, Chicken, the older piggie (he's about 4 months old) tried mounting ChickPea. So I seperated the two, looked at ChickPea again, and I still can't decide wether it's male or female, but after Chicken's reaction to ChickPea, makes me think otherwise. I don't know what to do. Is this some odd reaction Chicken is having to just being around another piggie, or are his actions showing me that a have a female piggie on my hands?
Please tell me what you think!! I don't want to give up ChickPea, as I am in love already!!!

Have you looked at these?

I guess it's too late now, but you really should have quarentined the newbie. You want to make sure he doesn't have any bugs (literally) or any infections to pass to chicken.
And it may not be too late, if you are lucky. Please separate them now. Especially until you determine sex!! You don't want pregnant piggies!
Read this too:

Now when do we get to see pictures!?!

Humping can be a sign of dominance, so there is still hope!

And if you do detemine ChickPea is a girl, you can always get Chicken neutered. Just make sure your vet has lots of experience.

I have looked at tons of sites, but ChicPea is so hard to figure out. I had no problems with Chicken, but there's just something different with ChicPea. Looks like both.
As for the quarentine thing, I didn't have to do that with ChickPea, as he/she was already alone for at least a month. but they are seperated completely for now til I can figure this out.

See that was what I was hoping for. Because as I said, Chickpea looks a lot more male than female. I was hoping that maybe Chicken was just trying the dominance thing..geese did it work too! lol

Well, I don't know how to help if those sites don't!
This will sound obvious, but....is there a penis? LOL!
I guess you know what it looks like because of chicken's... See if you can push, like above where it should be. Does anything 'pop' out?

I looked again at the sites you listed. the one that shows the different ages makes ChickPea look male. I will have to check when I get home as I am at work. But thank you so much for your help!! I will let you know what happens, and I will post pictures as soon as I can get him/her to sit still like Chicken did for me.

if you can post pictures of chickpeas private area that may help some here to figure it out if the pictures clear enough. I know I had tons of trouble with little Jinx until he was 3 or 4 weeks old I thought he was a girl. But still even if Chickpea is a boy they still do that humping thing, my female pigs do it all the time. Just keep them seperate till you know for sure.

Uh-oh, hope I didn't cause trouble with my "subtle" hints to get a playmate for Chicken!

...Posted pics of Chicken's private parts...hmmm...would that be considered pornographic material?

Maybe if you still can't figure it out you can take it to a piggie expert vet?

Yes, I have been meaning to thank you for that pigsterz *ehem*. Ewwww, piggie porn! What's this world coming to!!!!! Well, I tried to take pics of little ChickPea last night, but he/she refuses to stay still!!!! But I put the two of them together again last night, to see if Chicken was going to behave like he did the first time. There was no attempts to 'violate' little ChickPea. If anything, it ended up with Chicken looking mighty afraid of the little one. But they were both squeaking and whistling away like crazy together. I will keep them seperate until i know for sure though.
