Baby Vole!!!
At least, I think it's a vole. It kinda looks like a baby mouse too, though. I'll post a pic.
Anyway, it looks like it's about three weeks old and its eyes haven't opened. Do I feed it the same stuff I fed my baby mouse, or do they eat different things?

Wow, interesting. I guess since it's a baby rodent it'll require the same thing as many other baby rodents...warmth, water, and plenty of protein. Do your best and follow your instincts...hopefully they'll make it. I've always read about voles but never heard of anyone having them.

Well, I've been feeding it watered-down evaporated milk...do you think that's enough protein?

Thank you all for your advice! I think its a mouse, too...it's really similar to the babies my mouse had.
I also caught a vole earlier...it looks okay, but I'm not sure I should release it until I know my cats are inside. My dad thinks it's the mom of the mouse and he wants me to put them both outside...I think that it would be best if we let the vole go and kept the mouse.
What do you say?

i say your dad is thinkign he knows best (like my dad) but no one knows the materal love of a woman, other than a girl lol. just keep the littel guy in a shoebox with toilet paper, feed him bread soaked with milk, make sure he stays warm, has air flow (no tight lids). he doens't look like he'll go far, so dont' worry, i'm sure you can handle it. my dad used to tell me the same things. it boild down to the "if you love it, then leave it" rule, which does apply, if this werent a tiny baby with no hope. adult mouse, vole, toad or frog i agree, but this is tiny and helpless and hungry, adn you can help it, so go for it!! just say "hey dad, i'll keep him a while to feed him, you can always let him go later.

I know, but he's "positive" that it would be a lot better to put it in the wild. I'm not going to, but he's pretty stubborn with our pets. He's the same one who thought it would be "best" to let our white mice go in our backyard. Where our two cats hunt.

It looks like a baby deer mouse to me.
If you put it back in the wild now, there is probably no chance at all.I mean, the mother could be gone now for sure and even if she is still around, she may not even accept the baby no more,as there are human scents on him.
Do what you can with the little one and hopefully he will survive.Watered down milk is not good enough.Try kitten formula.
Also don't put it near your domestic mice as there is a chance it could have a disease that can pass on to your domestics.
Good luck with the little guy!

You could let the vole go, it could have a nest of babies somewhere, or release it somewhere safe. As for hte mouse, it dosnt stand a chance in the wild.

My mom bought some baby formula and we've been feeding it every three hours or so. It seems like it's okay, but I'm not sure if the formula is good for it because it keeps pushing it away. We let the vole go last night. We're just hoping it will make it through the week.
