Boris RIP
Well yesterday afternoon when my husband went home for lunch Boris was much worse. We made a vet appointment and took him in last night. The vet tried, but basically she said his respiratory problems had come back with a fury. We could try a stronger antibiotic, but as weak as he was (unable to lift his head and in obvious pain) there was only about a 30% chance that it would work and even if it did he would probably have a life of chronic issues with continuous antibiotic treatment. It was very, very, very hard, but we knew what we had to do. He was such a little sweetie, in spite of the pain he was in when I picked him up to cuddle him before they took him away he started bruxing. I will miss him sooo much. And Figaro misses him so much! Usually when I take him out he stays on me but he'll climb all around me and try to play. Last night he stayed on my shoulder for 30 straight minutes just chattering and giving rattie kisses and squishing as closely against me as he could, poor fellow. Right now we don't have any other males, so he's all by himself.

Thanks everyone. It is sad, and man I miss him. But actually I do feel better. I've had a lot of peace with it ever since we made the final decision. It wasn't fun, but it was just obviously what he needed me to do for him. It's never easy to do, but it actually was pretty easy to decide.

I know how you feel. I'm so sorry for your loss. We just put my cat to sleep the beginning of March. It's awful when you lose your buddy.
