Building a Cage??

I decided to retire my rat cage and either buy or make a larger one.

This is my old one, and I was thinking of making my own, just like this one, only bigger and better.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I could approach my project??

Any ideas would be helpful.

i made all my rat cages.
extreamly easy and quick how i do it.
i just get some wire mesh and cut it to what ever size i need (file down the edges) and then just cable tie it where you want it. or you can use cage clips. i made a rat cage one time that was 5 stories! i love making them

This is a more current pic. Can you show some pics of yours? Also, what kind of wire mess are you using, is it the same kind as I have in my pic?

Hey, sorry I don't have any advice about the building of a cage, but I was wondering what the wooden thing on your balcony was. And also, how big is that wheel? It doesn't look big enough for a rat...

No prob, any reply is a good one. That wooden thing in the cage is a jungle gym (I purchased like four sets and hot glued them together....used it for my mouse and rat when they were very little, now I use it for my mice). The wheel is small, and Alex, my mouse loves it and uses it it the cage. He lives with two rats, and used to live with a hamster as well. He is the only one to use it and it's on the side of the cage so that it does not take up very much room.

I believe the SuperPet makes it, I brought it at Petsmart. It's in the mouse area.

hmmm.....I wonder if they would have rectangular holes~ so that my mouse, Alex, couldnt escape through?...Im sure they must, because I have seen chicken wire.....but I dont think I have ever come across something that was narrow and rectangular.
