Diabetic rats? - Paw Talk

How do you know when a rat is diabetic? My mum bought it up the other day about Pepper, and I know he pees and drinks loads which are signs of being diabetic, but I don't know which site I found that from ages ago and now I can't find a single thing on the internet about it!?
If you know any links/webs I cn go to or if you know information yourself than please will you say

I had no idea rats could be diabetic.

okay, so any of you with interests about this subject, I've been digging and found some webs that you can look at about diabetic rats;

that one is good, but does not tell you much about how to tell if a rat is diabetic, but the only info I could find
