Female mice 'mating'?

Hey guys.

I was a bit freaked earlier to see on of my mice on top of another apparently mating with her, I thought I'd been mistakenly given a male with all my females. But I just looked at them both and a lot of photos on the net and they are definitely both female. Why would they be doing this? Is it a dominance thing? It was so weird, lol.

Yeah, that is a sign of dominance. If you are 100% sure that it is a female and there are no serious squabbles, they should be fine. 8)

Yes it is most likely dominance.However also sometimes when female mice and rats are in heat,they will mount their female cagemates.
