Q: Is it true that you have to keep Hairless rats warmer than rats that have fur?
A:
It is recommended to house Hairless rats with furred rats. Their skin is a little thicker, but they probably get colder not having any fur to keep them warm. If you choose to keep a Hairless rat alone, or with other Hairless rats, give them a box of some sort to sleep in, small enough to hold their body heat. It also might be helpful to give them an old T-shirt or something equivalent to help them stay warm. Be sure to launder any fabric frequently.

I'll post more as I find them..I'm pressed for time @ the moment

Great idea! There's so much unnecessary prejudice against hairless rats, and loads of stupid myths about them too

I LOVE hairless ratties! I have two boys,as you know! Milenko - the grumpy and frisky, towel mounter and Ringalo - the ever so playful and sooky boy!

Pic time!

Milenko is a dumbo. He is super grumpy all the time.He doesn't like handling very much, but does tolerate it.He likes to mount towels and clothing (the only rat I ever had that did that).

Ringalo is a standard. He has a split in his ear and half a tail (was that way when I got him.Jason calls him "Split Ear").He is super friendly and playful. He LOVES playing and driving Milenko nuts!He also enjoys hanging out in my shirt.

Hairless rats have pretty much the same care as furry rats. There are just a few differences. My nekkids are not living with furry rats, but they do all play together.
