How?
How do you 'hand wrestle' with rats? I try to, but I don't know if they know that I'm playing... I was flipping them onto their backs and tickling their bellies, but I don't know if I was doing it right or if they were having fun with it.

A lot of times when you hand wrestle, when you take your hand away they'll run and try to get it.
My one rat LOVES to chase things. Sometimes I just take a zip tie and he chases it all over the place.

Out of my two, only the one likes hand wrestling. My little Ninja.
I will grab and tickle his bum and belly and he will then grab my hand and try and wrestle my hand.He will also chase my hand.Sometimes he will bound off somewhere and then turn around and run right back at my hand.It is super cute and funny.
Just try different things and see what your girls like. And what gets them really excited.

Lily sometimes gets excited when I hold a hand towel and bring it up and down over her, making it cover her when I bring it down...

I was just playing with them and trying stuff out, but I just hope I'm not scaring them. They were chasing my finger a little bit, but not hand wrestling. They run off when I try to do what I think hand wrestling is. I was dropping a hand towel on them and that made Daisy jump and run under the towel rack. I don't know if she was playing or if I scared her.

See if they will chase strings and things.I had some rats that enjoyed chasing.
Remember all rats are different and so yours may not enjoy hand wrestling.
Oh when your chasing them around, sometimes talking in a squeaky or high pitched voice helps getting them excited. As silly as you might feel.

They lick my fingers enough, without putting anything on my fingers... They groom me like crazy.

Horses simply love running around. They enjoy flexing their muscles, arching their tails in the air, rising up powerfully on their hind legs, and then thundering off at full speed. In between the gallop strides they buck exuberantly and toss their heads joyfully. After repeating their show a couple of times, they pause for a moment to look around with widely flared nostrils, as if to ask: Has everyone seen us? Aren't we simply fantastic? We urge them to move again. They react on the spot, hooves flying with delight.

If you're handwrestling them they might think you are trying to dominate them and that's is what's making them scared.
See if they like to chase things (not your hand) Like I said my one rat likes to chase zipties and stuff like that.

One of mine likes to play a lot. He'll follow my hand, then I will scurry it around and push him with my finger and he'll sidekick me back.
