I adopted a Teddy Bear Hamster!

Well, I have been asked to adopt a year old Teddy Bear hamster, named Baxter, and I couldnt refuse! So now she will living in my room along with my mice and rats. Trouble is, that while she is in her cage, which has bars on the sides, I will also let my rats run around from time to time. My only concern is that the rats are going to investigate the hamster's cage and get bitten (or worse, loose their digits in the process).

Does anyone have a similar housing of rodents in their room, or have any helpful suggestions?

Conratulations on your new hammy!!!

Hmmm.... that's a tough one... is there a way that you can put to hamster cage outside the room, or in a bathroom while the rats are out? Or perhaps getting her a tank later on? I would not only be afraid of the hamster harming the rats, but also the rats harming the hamster. Don't know what else you could do.... good luck with it!!!

Oh, and any pics of the new hammy? 8)

Congratulations on the new addition. I would also be conserned about the rats harming the hamster. It's a good idea to put the hamster in another room while the rats are out, or you could possibly put his cage on top of a dresser or in a similar place the rats can't get to.
