They are so cute...I so want one. South CA is closer than some of the other rat owners but that's a rough drive.
So cute.

Sharpie marker is non-toxic to rats and often used to mark tails. I would use that to mark your fav's. You will need to reapply every 3-4 days or so.
I knew a breeder who ended up with a litter of 10 agouti satins, and he had to use multi-colour markers and a legend to tell his bubs apart for their adopters
I have used it myself, with the half-wild crew (who needed meds), same with a group of 4 PEW rescue babies...they were identical!

I live in Frazier Park, CA.
Why do so many people hate rat tails?? They are my favorite part! Besides their cute little mouths and hands lol.

The babies are starting to get their fur! There's 9 boys and 3 girls. Sadly, one of the little boys died yesterday. It was not looking well, ribs showing, empty belly, and Gretchen was putting him out of the nest. I kept putting him back in and trying to give him to her, but she wouldn't take him anymore. And my other mother rat, Anabelle was doing the same thing to him.
Well, there is one boy I want to keep for sure and it's the only other baby that Bonnie had. Since it'll be Bonnies last litter, I have to keep him! And I'm going to keep the 3 females as well. Two of the females are Gretchen's babies and one is from Beth's litter.
I'm gonna take a look at Anabelle's 8 babies in a bit when she's not feeding them. She's a little testy with her babies, she hates me to bother her. I'm pretty sure she has 5 girls and 3 boys.
I'll get some pics of Gretchen's babies in a second.

Here's the little boy we're keeping. Husband wants to name him Flash.

And here's the 3 girls. Haven't named them yet.

And here's some group shots.
Boys on the left, girls on the right.
And here's just the boys
