Introducing Jellyroll to nekkids
Well Jellyroll is all alone now.His cagemate Zephyr passed a few days ago.He has been quite depressed and in mourning for those few days, but today he seems to be happier and back to his old self.
So I am going to start the introduction process with him.I am introducing him to the hairless rats - Ringalo and Milenko.I cannot introduce him to Ninja and Armand, because Armand hates Jellyroll and Jellyroll hates Ninja...it just would not work out.
During free range time Jellyroll tolerates the hairless ratties, even tho they clearly annoy him.But he has never once tried fighting them or anything.
So I shall let you know how the process goes.

First update - I introduced him to the nekkids on neutral ground, they just wanted to hump Jellyroll as usual and he did get huffy and puffed his fur up,but was otherwise good.No fights or squabbles.
I think he may be the problem,if there is one.Because the hairless rats just wanna play with him and that kind of annoys him.
I know how they are together on nuetral grounds,so I am gonna try a cage introduction tommorrow.I am going to use one of the spare cages, that way there is no territory scents.I shall let you know what happens with that.

I'm hoping it's going well? The only experience I have with male rats was 10 yrs ago, and Moe was a singleton (always with me everywhere till my ex said...me or him!) but my girls have never had much trouble with each other (3x intros).
Let us know.

Things are not going well.Jellyroll doesn't seem to want to accept the nekkids. They accept him,but because they just wanna play with him,he gets annoyed with them and there was almost a fight.Good thing I was right there.
I am going to keep trying, but I am not too sure if it is going to work now.
I have had lone rats before who are perfectly happy and who just do not want other rat companionship, but I always at least try introducing them before.I noticed in most cases, rats who lose cagemates won't accept other rats. That is what usually happens here.

Awws sorry its not going well as of yet
It still *might* work, try a couple more times, but if not, well
he's not -literally- a lone rat, theres other rats nearby & you take him out of his cage lots anyway,so he's far from alone

something you can try that I do with all my rats is: there is Jerrica & cirith (boyfriends rats) and after we let them meet on neutral ground I put cirith into Jerricas cage while we played with Jerrcia. We put Ciriths cloth bedding into their new cage becasue Cirith is just a little girl so she's moving into Jerrica lol. After Jerrica smelt Cirith all over her home she was a little puffy but not too bad. So we put them in the big enw cage together, and ssince Cirith smell was all over the place (thnx to the towls) we never had any big fights, just some domination playing lol. OOO I'll attach pictures of them now!! .

yeah, i found that adding bedding and stuff from the other rat's cage, helps them get the idea.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have introduced many rats before and usually do not have problems. But I am going to keep trying a few more times!! No point in giving up,because Jellyroll just might not be ready for another cagemate at the moment.

Rats are people too!
Maybe Jellyroll simply needs more time to grieve.

Well it has been sometime now, about two weeks or a little more.Jellyroll is himself now.
I haven't tried in a few days with intros tho,as Jelly has been acting perfectly fine and everything.I may try again, but I am thinking I might not now.Jellyroll seems really happy now and well the nekkids do kind of annoy him,as they are quite playful and Jellyroll is laidback.
I been taking Jellyroll around with me these past couple days.He kind of took Zephyr's place,as Zephyr was the little guy who came with me everywhere! And well Jelly was Zephyr's cagemate and since he is alone,I just started bringing him with me.
